The ability of the NFL to collect, access, protect, and share all the data generated at the game will play a pivotal role in event operations for Super Bowl XLVII. We at Entelligence have been blessed with a great team of people who love what they do and elate our clients and customers, both internally and externally. In an industry where more than half of the people are looking for greener pastures at any given time, we are surrounded by team members who want to be here and show it every day by doing amazing work.

We decided that we would shine the spotlight on some of our team and learn a bit about them and why they love being a part of our mission to delight our clients.

Today, we’re talking with Justin Parmalee, long term consultant, with Hitachi Data Systems.

Justin, you have obviously been successful in this role. What are the contributing factors, in your opinion, to great customer scores?
That’s easy. It’s my personality and how I work and interact with the clients. Though I am technically proficient in what I do, my most important asset and what I bring to the table is talking with clients and helping them understand the WHAT and WHY-What we are doing, why we are doing it, and how it’s going to benefit them. It’s also my job to give the client a sense that that this all will be done on time and to their specification.

In a nutshell: I make sure they’re happy.

How has Entelligence contributed to your success?
Here’s what they do well: they totally understand what I as a consultant need in my day to day role. I don’t need one more manager managing or micromanaging what I do. What I DO need is support from a team of people and assistance when I put something out there.

Entelligence has been able to give that to me. They’ve been very insightful about it all.

Today, we’re talking with Howard Weise, Citrix Network Consultant

So, Howard, tell us a little about your background.
I used to work in a different role before coming to Entelligence. Currently, 95% of my work is on one appliance, the Citrix Netscaler.

Tell us about what your high customer satisfaction scores. How do you do it?
Well, to start with, I try to be a good communicator and I get along with people. I’m also blessed with really good clientele.
And, while I know rules and guidelines can be important, I actually believe that what great people do transcends formulas or sets of rules I don’t consider myself great, but I do strive for greatness.
I also feel that consulting is like a dance; a good engagement takes two good partners. Both the consultant and the client have a role to play.

You’ve performed really well in this role. What would you say has contributed to your success?
To start with I feel like I am working for an honorable company and an honorable group of people. I have complete confidence in them and I know they have my back. I feel like I can be frank and honest, and I never really feel the need to bite my tongue.
Knowing I have that kind of support behind me gives me a lot of confidence and helps me be a little bit looser than I’ve been in other jobs in the past where basically , if there were problems, people were more worried about where to affix blame than solving the problem. I NEVER feel that here.
Also, I am grateful for what I have. I really feel fortunate. Between you and me, I sometimes literally tear up thinking about how much I have. I am healthy. I have a loving wife. I have an awesome job. I have an awesome boss. I feel like my whole life has been setup for me to succeed.
I also try to be balanced. I play music and exercise a lot. I try to get out into nature so I can hear myself think.

How has Entelligence contributed to your success?
Words that come to mind are ‘supportive, and ‘loyal’ and ‘having my back’. I feel really empowered knowing that I have this strong team of people behind me. This allows me to not be bogged down by my insecurities.
And, my manager, Helen Meyer-Smith, is really, really remarkable. She has been a great mentor. She knows how to conduct herself, and she’s the real deal. I think she could be President. I’d vote for her!

What do you like about Entelligence? Why do you stay?
I actually like it here so much that I’ve never seriously entertained leaving. You’re right…recruiters call all the time and we talk, but I’ve never even submitted a resume.

I have an awesome job, a glamorous job, with lots of prestige and enough down time to study and keep up with all the changes going on in our industry. I also feel a strong sense of loyalty to my team at Entelligence. It would be difficult to leave them. They have my back and I feel obligated to have theirs.

I’m really blessed.

We decided that we would shine the spotlight on some of our team and learn a bit about them and why they love being a part of our mission to delight our clients.

Today, we’re talking with Ashok Gopinath.

So, Ashok, tell us a little about your background.
I’ve always been in the high tech field. Entelligence is the smallest company I have ever worked for, and in many ways that is a plus. I can communicate directly with my manager or the people who run the company anytime I want. Other places say employees are valued, but at the end of the day, you are one among thousands. Entelligence really does appreciate what I do for them. They listen and make decisions based on what employees are telling them.

Tell us about what your high customer satisfaction scores. How do you do it?
Well, I start all projects with a Statement of Work (SOW), but the first thing I do is get with the customer and determine if their expectations match what the SOW is saying. If there are any variations, I write those down and bring them to the project manager so that everyone is on the same page.

Then, I ask what the timelines are, and what their ‘pain points’ are. Their answers to these questions might be addressed in the SOW or it might not. I try to go above and beyond and not just say ‘this is my job, or that is NOT my job. I see everyone involved in a project as my client and I want them all to be VERY SATISFIED before I walk away from the project; salespeople, HDS, the customer, EVERYONE. I ALWAYS ask for feedback from the customer before I leave. I always ask if I could have done anything better.

How has Entelligence contributed to your success?
Entelligence has a very clear process for how to deliver the best customer experience. Taken step by step, it works. When I came on board my mentor, Mason Jones, took a lot of time with me. Now, when people come on board, they can follow those same steps and learn as I did how to deliver great customer service every time.

What do you like about Entelligence? Why do you stay?
They appreciate what I do for them and they show it. They appreciate their employees and they listen. And, I like working on my own schedule and I like to work freely. I’m a self-motivator. I don’t need external motivation. My goals are very clear on what I want. Entelligence lets me do my thing and if I ever need anything I go to them. If they ever need anything from me, they come to me. We have a good mutual understanding. Secondly, our values are very similar. I don’t care about climbing the corporate ladder. I like doing what I do, and they give me room to do just that.

We’d like to congratulate our partner and client CommVault. They’ve once again been designated a “Leader” in Gartner’s 2012 Magic Quadrant.  Gartner defines a Leader as “…an organization that executes well against their current vision and are well-positioned for tomorrow.”

We are not surprised at this designation at all. We work with them on a daily basis and we see it. CommVault understands how to get where they want to go, and they have put all the pieces in place to help them get there: great people. great ideas, great products, and strategy that works.

Mason Jones is one of my heroes.

Growing up in rural Georgia, Mason didn’t do well in school – or, as he puts it, “I barely got out of high school”. His big plan after graduation was to go to work for the tractor trailer manufacturer on the assembly line where he would do intense, manual labor every day. After a year on the job, Mason had an epiphany. “I decided,” he says, “to work with my mind. And, I wasn’t even sure what that meant at the time, but I was willing to find out.”
How do we make it easy and affordable for people to get the training they need now? And, how do we scale the solution so we can make huge progress now, not small steps over decades?
